Debroux will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) of the upper Midwest districts. She is a member of Divine Redeemer in Hartland, Wisc. and plans on transferring from UW – Waukesha to Concordia University-Wisconsin this fall to pursue a degree in Lutheran Early Childhood Education.
“Aerwyn is humble, caring, extremely reliable and deeply committed. Even now in college, she continues to be a leading member of our new Student Leadership local service projects team. She has also helped us in the planning and development of this new student leadership team … The sky really is the limit for Aerwyn…,” said Andy Kroemer, Director of Youth Ministry at Divine Redeemer in his letter of recommendation for Debroux. “I recommend Aerwyn Debroux for this scholarship and I can assure you that you are investing in a person who will always invest in others. … Aerwyn took the opportunity to go out into the community to serve the needs of the community such as working with area needy kids through the Boys and Girls Club, working at a farm geared toward giving food to the needy, working at a local thrift shop, helping at a local adult daycare, and working at a food warehouse for the needy.”
Another letter of recommendation for Debroux was written by University of Wisconsin – Waukesha Professor Julianna Alitto. “Aerwyn is able to distinguish herself from her peers because of her high level of commitment to her education as well as her involvement in the community…. She always finds time to balance school, work and service and does an outstanding job engaging in all endeavors with consistency and integrity. She demonstrates that she is a role model both for her peers but also for children as a future educator leading students in the classroom.”
“I believe that the work of Lutheran Church Extension Fund encompasses exactly what our purpose on this earth is for... spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” wrote Debroux. “Many lives are being changed by the organization, including those of the students who are able to attend newly built schools, members of congregations who have the opportunity to invest in new programs, and church workers who are provided with financial assistance to support their mission. In each of these cases, people are encouraged to grow in their faith and share it with others. Communities are significantly impacted when individuals come together with the purpose of sharing God’s love and building up the body of Christ, and it is with the help of organizations like the LCEF that this becomes possible.”
LCEF is blessed to provide annual scholarships to our outstanding LCMS students throughout the upper Midwest districts of Iowa East, Iowa West, Minnesota North, Minnesota South, North Dakota, North Wisconsin and South Wisconsin.
