Megan Schulze is the 2016 Minnesota North (MNN) District Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) $1,000 scholarship winner!

Megan is a member of Love of Christ Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, Minnesota and attends the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire.

In his letter of recommendation for Megan, Pastor Paul Hennings wrote the following:

“I can truly say that [Megan] is one of our outstanding worship leaders whom I have watched grow in maturity and poise.  …this is just one area of which she has contributed her love for the Lord; she has served in numerous other ministries including our women’s ministry, youth and family ministry and service ministries.

Megan is a bright, young woman with great potential to be a leader in our community and beyond.  With her faith undergirding her I believe she will make a difference in our society and our world.”

Susan Benson, former secondary science teacher at St. Cloud Christian School, St. Cloud, Minnesota, wrote the following in her letter of recommendation for Megan:

“Megan is a natural leader, persuasive and compelling.  A logical thinker, she uses this gift to explain her ideas and persuade others in a diplomatic fashion. … She organized and led a worship team for chapel during her junior and senior years, rising to the challenge of inspiring a group of teenagers to perform on a biweekly basis.  She was a section leader in choir for several years, and was an accompanist as well.

In sports, Megan was chosen to be the cross country captain her senior year.  She was a strong role model for the younger students at our high school, co-leading a Bible study for younger girls once a week, befriending them and mentoring them.  She also volunteered extensively at her church and in the community, having volunteered over fifty hours during her senior year alone. Megan Schulze is an amazing young woman.”

“What I appreciate about [LCEF] is that the money is being used for Christ-centered purposes,” wrote Megan in her scholarship application. “By supporting local LCMS churches with the dollars invested by LCMS members, LCEF fulfills a practical need for both parties.  I love that LCEF is about giving back and ultimately expanding the mission of the church, and how it enables churches and their members to reach more people for Christ.

… LCEF promotes creative ways to encourage savings for young people and the church as a whole.  I have seen how it changes lives through my own church and my family, and I have been encouraged by the mission of LCEF to start saving and investing my money in the church and in organizations that advance its mission of spreading the gospel and making disciples!”

LCEF is blessed to have the funds available to support Megan and other young LCMS members as they pursue post-secondary education. It is our prayer that they are equipped to become strong, Christian leaders as adults. There are more upper Midwest district 2016 LCEF scholarship awards to be announced yet this spring.
