“As an educator, I will serve as a role model to my students as I help them demonstrate and value Christian attributes, such as caring for others, respect, integrity, learning to forgive, and so much more,” wrote Michaela Geier in her scholarship essay.
Michaela is the second of five 2017 North Wisconsin District (NWD) Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) $1,000 Scholarship winners. Michaela is a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Wausau and attends Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), Mequon. She is pursuing a double major in Early Childhood and Special Education.
“Michaela endears trust in the people with whom she interacts. Her personality is transparent and genuine,” wrote CUW Professor of Music Dr. Louis Menchaca in a letter of recommendation for Michaela. “Simply put, I would be comforted knowing that my own children would be taught by people like Michaela Geier. She is an adamant ‘minister of the Gospel’ and I look forward to her having a fabulous career in education.”
In his letter of recommendation for Michaela, Christ Lutheran Pastor David Wetmore wrote,
“[Michaela] not only has a firm grasp of Lutheran theology but also puts what she knows into practice in her life. Michaela has helped with Vacation Bible School, played her clarinet during worship, assisted with usher duties, and is always willing to help out in any way that she can.
In the community, she displays a cheerful, positive Christian presence whether she is serving as lifeguard at the pool or working for the local water department.”
LCEF is blessed to support faith-filled students such as Michaela with these annual scholarship awards. There are several NWD and Minnesota South District LCEF scholarships yet to be announced this spring. Follow our newsfeed and Facebook page for the most recent award announcements.
